| Obverse description | The state emblem of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea occupies the central field, depicting a hydroelectric power station beneath a five-pointed star radiating rays, framed by sheaves of rice bound with a ribbon inscribed in Korean. The emblem is flanked at the lower sides by stylised laurel branches. The Korean legend 조선민주주의인민공화국 curves along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 WON appears in Latin script at the base. |

| Additional information |
North Korea's commemorative aluminum issues from the early 2000s were produced largely for the export collector market rather than domestic circulation — hard currency was the point, not coinage. The Central Bank issued dozens of low-mintage pieces during this period through foreign distributors, and most examples have spent their entire existence in capsules.
