Aanvullende informatie

South Korea's 1 Won coin was effectively rendered obsolete by inflation decades before it was officially discontinued — by the 1990s, no transaction of any practical consequence could be priced in single Won increments. The Bank of Korea continued issuing the denomination largely for accounting and banking settlement purposes rather than genuine retail circulation, and most pieces struck after the mid-1980s went directly into mint sets without ever passing through a cash drawer.

Production was formally suspended for general circulation in 1992, with subsequent annual strikes made solely for collector sets.
