Swedish Pomerania's small silver fractions of the 1680s were struck under the administrative machinery Charles XI used to fund his reduktion policy — the forced resumption of noble estates by the Crown. The Stettin mint produced these fractional pieces largely to service local wage and market transactions in a province that remained culturally distinct from Sweden proper throughout the occupation.
Ahlström 212b distinguishes a specific die variant within the 1684 output.
