Reverse description A plain Greek cross with slightly splayed arms occupies the central field, set within a beaded inner circle. Each quadrant formed by the cross arms contains a stylised trefoil or oak-leaf ornament, a motif typical of Hanseatic bracteate and witten coinage of the period. The surrounding annular legend reads BENEDICTVS DEVS in uncial Lombardic lettering, translating as 'Blessed be God', a common pious inscription on medieval North German silver coinage.
