Additional information

Theodoric II of Isenburg-Büdingen served as Archbishop of Mainz from 1459 until his death in 1463, a tenure defined almost entirely by the catastrophic fallout of the Mainz Diocesan Feud. His election was itself disputed — Pope Pius II had backed a rival candidate, Diether von Isenburg — and the resulting conflict destabilized the archbishopric's finances severely. Coinage struck under his brief authority reflects an administration perpetually scrambling for fiscal footing.

The Weißpfennig denomination was a low-value silver struck across the Rhineland during this period, its production driven by chronic shortages of small change rather than any deliberate monetary policy.
