Reinald of Jülich's brief monetary output in these years was tied directly to the administrative chaos following the disputed succession that had plagued the duchy since the death of Wilhelm II. The Weißpfennig — literally "white penny," named for the bright appearance of freshly struck billon or low-grade silver — was a workhorse denomination of the lower Rhineland, used heavily in local market transactions where larger silver was impractical.
Noss JMA#162 is among the less frequently catalogued Jülich types in dealer stock, owing more to the duchy's relatively modest mint output than to any dramatic historical disruption.
