Obverse description Facing enthroned figure of Saint Peter, the patron saint of Trier, depicted frontally in high relief within a beaded inner circle. The saint holds a large key in his right hand and a cross-staff in his left, wearing ecclesiastical vestments with a nimbus behind his head. A small shield bearing the arms of Trier appears at the base of the figure. The overall style is characteristic of late medieval hammered coinage, with a Gothic aesthetic. The circumferential legend IACOBVS ARCHIEPS TREV runs within a beaded border.
