An olive branch lies in the left field. The engraver's name 'VOIGT' appears on the plinth to the right. The circumferential legend 'DURCH KAMPF UND SIEG ZUM FRIEDEN' arcs around the upper field, while a three-line inscription in the lower exergue reads 'FRIEDENSSCHLUSS ZU / FRANKFURT A.M. / 10 MAI 1871', commemorating the Peace of Frankfurt concluding the Franco-Prussian War.
