Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Duke Adolph of Nassau facing left, with short hair and a distinctive moustache and goatee, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail. The engraver's signature F.KORN appears on the truncation of the neck. The circumferential legend reads ADOLPH HERZOG ZU NASSAU, separated from the portrait by a fine inner border. The coin is bordered by a raised beaded rim characteristic of mid-19th century German minted piedforts.
