The Mlechchha dynasty ruled Kamarupa — roughly modern Assam — from roughly the 7th through late 9th centuries, and Tyagasimha is recorded among its final rulers before the line was extinguished and succeeded by the Pala dynasty of Kamarupa around 900 CE. Copper issues from this dynasty are poorly documented in Western numismatic literature, and auction appearances remain infrequent enough that establishing reliable type populations is difficult.
What survives tends to come from hoards rather than single finds, suggesting episodic deposition rather than ordinary loss in circulation.
