The specific mint for this type remains unattributed — a problem complicated by the near-total absence of Etruscan mint signatures and the difficulty of provenancing pieces without excavation context. Weight standards among Etruscan bronze issues varied considerably from city to city, making die-linkage studies the primary tool for grouping emissions.
The uncia represents the twelfth-part division of the Etruscan as, a system running parallel to — and occasionally intersecting with — the Roman libral standard.
