| 裏面の説明 | Central field depicts a stylized châtel tournois, the characteristic castle or turret motif derived from the French gros tournois, rendered in a schematic Gothic manner with three towers. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend in Latin reads TVRONVS CIVIS, identifying the coin's association with the Tours type. The outer border is formed by a ring of Gothic trefoil arches alternating with fleur-de-lis ornaments, characteristic of the Tournois groschen tradition. |

William II of Jülich received the ducal title in 1356, just five years before this issue, as part of the same Golden Bull negotiations that reshaped imperial politics across the Rhine territories. The Tournois type — borrowed directly from the French gros tournois of Philip IV — had by this point been circulating as a regional imitation form for decades, adopted wholesale by Rhenish lords who needed credible silver currency capable of crossing political boundaries without friction. Jülich's version tracks closely enough to French prototypes that misattributions in older collections are not uncommon.
