Obverse description Central field features a bold plain cross with slightly flared arms, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. Between the arms of the cross, Gothic letters fill the quadrants. A second beaded border separates the central design from the outer legend zone. The circumferential Latin legend, struck in Gothic lettering, reads: + DNS DE RANDEN + BNDICTV: SIT: NOME: DNI: NRI: DEI: IHV: XPI, invoking a devotional formula typical of Rhenish turnose imitations of the 14th century.
