Reverse description The reverse displays a large, naturalistic thistle — the heraldic emblem of Scotland — with a prominent seed head, two flanking leaves, and a detailed stem, all depicted in bold relief within a beaded inner circle. The Latin motto NEMO·ME·IMPVNE·LACESSIT ('No one provokes me with impunity'), the motto of the Order of the Thistle and of Scotland, encircles the central device between the inner beaded circle and the outer beaded border. The rendering of the thistle is vigorous and occupies most of the reverse field, consistent with the style of the Earl of Stirling's copper coinage.
