The legend reads 'Zarb Dar al-'Ilm Shiraz 1258', identifying the Shiraz mint by its honorific epithet 'Abode of Knowledge' and recording the AH date of striking. Decorative dot embellishments punctuate the field. The reverse, like the obverse, is enclosed within a lobed, scalloped outer border consistent with the hammered technique employed at provincial Qajar mints. |
