Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a crowned and draped bust or figure facing right, surmounted by the ducal crown, the hair or veil rendered in a knotted arrangement typical of Sforza-era Milanese coinage. The design is set within a coarse beaded border. The surrounding legend in Gothic Latin characters runs along the coin's periphery, divided by stops, identifying the young duke Gian Galeazzo Maria Sforza Visconti. The hammered flan produces an irregular edge, and the relief is low and worn in keeping with this small-denomination billon issue.
