Reverse description A four-spoked wheel occupies the central field, its hub and radiating spokes cast in strong relief within a circular border. Four pellets, one placed in each of the quadrants between adjacent spokes, serve as the value mark denoting the triens (one-third of the as). The composition is stark and functional, consistent with the archaic aes grave coinage tradition of Umbrian Central Italy, with the broad, irregular cast flan typical of the series.
