A pseudo-legend in degenerate Latin characters encircles the bust, rendered as garbled imitation of Roman imperial titulature. The overall style reflects the hand of a Germanic die-cutter working from Roman tremissis models of the 5th–7th centuries. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | A standing figure, derived from the Victory or angel type common on late Roman and Byzantine tremisses, rendered in a simplified barbaric style. The figure appears frontally or in slight three-quarter pose, with schematic wings and garments reduced to abstract linear forms. A globus cruciger or cross-topped staff may be held in one hand. The surrounding pseudo-legend consists of debased Latin letterforms arranged in imitation of an imperial reverse inscription. A globule or cross appears in the exergue, consistent with Germanic imitative tremissis types of this period. |
