| Obverse description | Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of King Liutprand facing right, with the right hand raised in front of the chest, rendered in the thick, stylized manner characteristic of Lombard tremisses of the early eighth century. The effigy is depicted in a late antique imperial tradition adapted to Lombard royal iconography. A control letter appears in the field. The bust is encircled by a Latin legend identifying the ruler by name and title. |
