Obverse description Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of King Liutprand facing right, with a single letter positioned in the field before the effigy. The royal name is inscribed across the field in two lines, while the moneyer's name AUFERMO appears as part of the surrounding peripheral legend. The design follows the late antique imperial portrait tradition adapted for Lombard coinage, rendered in the characteristically schematic style of early medieval hammered gold tremisses.
