| Obverse description | Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Valentinian III facing right, rendered in the late antique imperial style. The effigy is encircled by a degenerate Latin legend, characteristic of barbarous imitative coinage produced by Germanic tribes, in which the original imperial titulature has been corrupted into largely illegible or meaningless letter forms. The portrait retains the broad compositional elements of its Roman prototype but exhibits the crude workmanship typical of post-Roman imitative tremisses. |

| Reverse description | A plain cross centered within a beaded or dotted wreath, a design derived directly from the reverse type of late Roman imperial tremisses struck under Valentinian III and his successors. The surrounding legend, encircling the wreath, is a degenerate and nonsensical imitation of the original Roman reverse inscription, the letter forms having been severely corrupted through successive copying by Germanic die-cutters unfamiliar with Latin. The overall composition closely follows official Roman tremissis prototypes but betrays its barbarous origin through irregular flan shape and debased engraving. |
