Beschrijving keerzijde The central field features a trident symbol prominently displayed, with the Vikram Samvat date inscribed in Devanagari numerals below it. A circular legend in Devanagari script frames the design around the periphery, reading 'Maharao Shri Khengarji, Kutch' along with the regnal year, attributing the issue to the ruling Maharao of Kutch. The overall design is characteristic of the princely coinage of Kutch, combining Hindu iconography with traditional Gujarati script.

Aanvullende informatie

Kutch operated as a semi-autonomous princely state under British paramountcy, and its local copper coinage circulated alongside British India issues well into the late nineteenth century. Khengarji III, who ruled from 1875 to 1942, was unusual among contemporary Indian princes in actively modernizing Kutch's administrative and monetary systems — the regularization of this trambiyo issue in the early 1880s was part of that broader effort. Y#30.1 denotes a specific die variety within the type; collectors should note that multiple die pairings exist for this short emission window.
