| Reverse description | The reverse displays a multi-line Persian legend in Nasta'liq script set within a rectangular cartouche, surrounded by a prominent outer border of large raised beads encircling the entire field. The central inscription records the mint name 'Zarb Mashhad Imam Reza' — struck at Mashhad, the shrine city of Imam Reza — together with a partial date notation and the AH year 1288. The beaded border is a distinctive decorative feature of Mashhad mint issues of this period, differentiating them from coins produced at other Qajar minting centers. The field surrounding the cartouche is relatively plain, with the calligraphic text serving as the sole design element. The overall execution reflects the regional workshop style of the Mashhad mint under Naser al-Din Shah. |
