Obverse description The obverse field is entirely occupied by a multi-line Persian legend in bold, flowing Nasta'liq script, arranged within a rectangular cartouche set against a plain gold field. The inscription reads 'Al-Sultan ibn al-Sultan Naser al-Din Shah Qajar' along with the AH date 1288, affirming the royal title and lineage of the ruling Qajar monarch. The cartouche is framed by fine linear borders, with the overall composition characteristic of mid-nineteenth-century Iranian coinage. No figural imagery is present; the design relies entirely on the calligraphic legend as the primary decorative and identificatory element. The outer rim is plain and slightly irregular, consistent with the hand-struck character of Qajar gold coinage.
