The inscription is framed by a continuous beaded border following the irregular flan edge. The overall composition is characteristic of Qajar hammered gold coinage, with the calligraphic legend dominating the design field. Floral ornaments fill the interstices between the lines of text, lending the piece a densely decorative quality typical of early nineteenth-century Iranian court art. |

The upper register reads 'dār al-salṭana Qazwīn' and the lower register gives the year in Eastern Arabic numerals. Delicate floral and vegetal motifs fill the field both within and outside the inner frame. A secondary outer border, decorated with floral sprigs and beaded elements, encircles the entire design, consistent with standard Qajar mint practice for gold tomans of this period. |
