Beschrijving voorzijde Four large Chữ Hán (Chinese) characters arranged in cruciform around a central rayed sun motif with a raised central boss. Reading clockwise from the top, the four characters read 紹治通寶 (Thiệu Trị Thông Bảo), meaning 'Thiệu Trị current treasure.' The sunburst device at center features radiating rays extending outward from the central pellet, rendered in low relief against a lightly textured field. The overall composition is bold and calligraphic in style, consistent with Vietnamese Nguyễn dynasty coinage conventions.

Aanvullende informatie

Thiệu Trị ruled for just six years before dying in 1847, and his coinage reflects a reign defined more by consolidation than ambition — he reversed many of his father Minh Mạng's aggressive administrative reforms and reduced the scale of imperial minting accordingly. The 1 Tiền denomination in silver occupied the practical middle of the Nguyễn monetary hierarchy, struck at the Board of Revenue mint in Huế under tight court supervision.
