| Obverse description | Square klippe flan with a beaded inner circle enclosing a facing half-length figure of Saint Rupert, patron of Salzburg, vested in episcopal robes and mitre, his right hand raised in benediction and his left hand holding a crozier. Below the saint, a large quartered heraldic shield bearing the arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg impaled with those of the Raitenau family, supported by elaborate mantling. The Latin legend SANCTVS . RVBERTVS . EPS . SALISBV: runs along the inner beaded border of the circular design field. |
