Obverse description Armored bust of Duke Wilhelm VI August of Brunswick-Lüneburg facing right, wearing elaborate period armor with a prominent multi-layered ruff collar rendered in fine detail. The effigy is portrayed in a naturalistic early Baroque style typical of German Thaler coinage of the Thirty Years' War era. The circumferential Latin legend is separated from the central field by an inner beaded border. A small heraldic device or mintmaster's mark appears at the top of the legend break. The field surrounding the bust is flat and unadorned, directing full attention to the finely engraved portrait.
