Reverse description A large willow tree, its branches dramatically swept to one side by a violent thunderstorm, occupies the central field; lightning bolts strike the tree from above. Village buildings and church steeples are depicted on either side of the tree, grounding the scene in a landscape setting. Above the storm clouds, the Hebrew tetragrammaton (YHWH) radiates divine light, representing God's providence over the afflicted tree — an emblematic device alluding to Landgrave William V's personal motto. The Latin motto legend encircles the design, and the entire composition is enclosed within a beaded border. This reverse type gives the coin its colloquial name, the Weidenbaumtaler (Willow Tree Thaler).
