背面描述 The reverse field is entirely occupied by a seven-line commemorative inscription in raised Roman capitals, centered within the coin's field, recording Duke Wilhelm's first visit to the newly constructed mint at Wiesbaden on 28 December 1831. The text reads: BESUCHT / ZUM ERSTENMAL / DIE VON / IHM / ERBAUTE MÜNZSTÄTTE / ZU WIESBADEN / DEN 28 DEC: 1831. The design is plain, with no additional ornamental devices, relying solely on the typographic arrangement for visual effect. The entire composition is enclosed within a raised beaded border consistent with the obverse.

附加信息

Nassau struck this thaler to commemorate Duke Wilhelm's formal visit to the ducal mint at Weilburg — a genre of "mint visit" coinage that German states periodically issued as prestige pieces rather than circulating currency. The timing places it squarely within the political turbulence following the 1830 revolutions, when German princes were under renewed pressure to perform their legitimacy publicly. A mint visit was a calculated display of sovereign engagement with commerce and civic order.

Production numbers were deliberately limited, and most examples were distributed as gifts to mint officials and court dignitaries rather than released through normal channels.
