| Obverse description | Armored bust of Margrave Wilhelm of Baden-Baden facing right, wearing an elaborate ruffled collar and ornate plate armor with decorative shoulder pieces. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the late Renaissance style typical of early seventeenth-century German coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading :GVILHELM·D·G·MAR·BAD·ET·HACH:, identifying the ruler by name and title. The field is smooth, with the bust occupying the majority of the flan. The coin displays fine hammered workmanship characteristic of the period. |
