| Descrizione del dritto | Central field occupied by a large heraldic shield of elaborate scalloped outline, quartered by a bold cross, with horizontal lines filling the upper and lower quarters and a plain cross motif in the central division, consistent with the arms of the Livonian Order. The date, rendered as the last two digits of the year (·5·8·), appears above the shield within the upper lobe of the escutcheon's decorative cartouche. The design is executed in high relief typical of hammered klippe coinage, with the shield nearly filling the irregular square flan. |

Wilhelm von Fürstenberg served as Master of the Livonian Order during one of its most catastrophic periods — the opening phase of the Livonian War, when Ivan IV's forces crossed into Livonian territory in January 1558 and rapidly dismantled what remained of the Order's military credibility. Fürstenberg was captured by Russian forces at the fall of Fellin in 1560 and spent the rest of his life in captivity near Yaroslavl.
Thalers struck under his name during 1558–1559 represent the Order's last coherent coinage before political collapse and partition among its neighbors effectively ended it as an issuing authority.
