| Reverse description | Central shield of ornamental form bearing the crossed keys of Riga beneath a small cross, the principal heraldic emblem of the city. The date is divided and placed in the fields to either side of the shield. A continuous Latin legend encircles the composition, identifying the coin as a new silver denarius. The engraving is executed in a late Renaissance style consistent with Baltic civic coinage of the 1570s, with the shield set within decorative strapwork or floral ornament. |
