| Obverse description | Full-length frontal figure of Saint Peter, nimbed and bearded, clad in episcopal robes with an ornate jewelled morse, holding two crossed keys in his left hand and raising his right hand in benediction. Below the saint, a cartouche bearing the arms of Osnabrück — a six-spoked wheel — is displayed on an ornamental baroque escutcheon. The circumferential Latin legend runs around the entire periphery of the coin, separated from the central device by a raised border, with the milled edge visible at the rim. |

| Reverse description | A panoramic view of Osnabrück Cathedral occupies the lower half of the field, depicting the church's characteristic twin towers with ornate cross finials and a rising sun with radiating rays emerging from behind a hillside to the left. Above the cityscape, a starfield of scattered multi-pointed stars fills the upper portion of the inner field, surmounted by a scrolled banderole inscribed with the Latin phrase 'occiduo pandunt se sidera caelo'. The circumferential legend, a quotation from Isaiah 58, encircles the entire design and incorporates a chronogram yielding the date 1698, the letters of which are rendered in majuscule to distinguish them from the minuscule text. |
