Obverse description Armored and draped bust of Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I facing right, wearing a laureate wig and elaborate gorget, with an ornate shield bearing the imperial arms at his left. The mintmaster's initials GS appear at the base of the bust. The surrounding legend reads LEOPOLDUS I RO IMP SEM AUG, abbreviated from the full imperial titulature, distributed across the upper field within a beaded border.

Reverse description Full-length frontal figure of Saint Paul, patron of Münster Cathedral, depicted as a bearded elder draped in flowing robes, holding a long sword upright in his right hand and an open book in his left. The date 1688 is divided on either side of the figure in the field. The surrounding legend CAPIT.CATH.E MON SEDE.VACANTE, referencing the Cathedral Chapter of Münster during the episcopal vacancy, is distributed around the periphery within a beaded border.
