| Obverse description | Bust of Archbishop Salentin von Isenburg facing left, bearded and wearing ecclesiastical vestments with an ornate clerical collar, rendered in high relief in the late Renaissance style. The date 1572 is divided across the field to either side of the bust. Flanking the effigy are two heraldic shields: to the left, the lion of Isenburg set within a cartouche; to the right, the three hearts of the House of Isenburg. A third shield at the base of the bust displays the Cologne electoral eagle. The circumferential legend reads SALENTINVS D G ELECT COLON, separated by decorative stops, enclosed within a beaded inner border. |
