| Reverse description | The reverse bears a twelve-line commemorative Latin inscription entirely filling the field, set within a plain border, recording the birth, travels, education, marriage to Christina of Hesse, numerous progeny, personal virtues, and death at Bevern of the commemorated duke. The text is executed in well-spaced roman capital lettering of uniform size, with the Roman numeral dates MDCXXXVI (birth year, 1636) and MDCLXXXVII (death year, 1687) prominently displayed on the third and final lines respectively. No figurative imagery appears; the composition is purely epigraphic in the baroque memorial tradition. |
