Obverse description Crowned quartered coat of arms of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel occupying the central field, surmounted by an elaborate electoral bonnet-style crown with multiple smaller crowns flanking it. The shield is divided into four quarters displaying the rampant lion of Brunswick, the lion of Lüneburg, and additional heraldic charges, supported by decorative foliate scrollwork. The full circumferential legend reads RUDOLPHUS AUGUSTUS D G DUX BRUNS ET LUN, rendered in Latin capital letters. The coin's milled edge is visible at the periphery, consistent with the high-quality die work of the Zellerfeld mint.
