Rudolf II's final years were consumed by the Bruderzwist — the fraternal conflict with his brother Matthias that systematically stripped him of his territories. By 1608, Matthias had forced Rudolf to cede Austria, Hungary, and Moravia; by 1611, Bohemia itself was gone. The Hall mint operated through this dynastic collapse under imperial authority that was, in practical terms, already evaporating. Rudolf retained the title of Holy Roman Emperor until his death in 1612, and Hall continued striking in his name accordingly.
The Tyrolean mint at Hall was among the most technically sophisticated in the empire, having pioneered roller press coinage as early as the 1560s under Archduke Ferdinand II.
