| Obverse description | A finely detailed cityscape view of the Nuremberg Rathaus (City Hall) occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with considerable architectural precision. In the foreground, a seated allegorical female figure personifying the City of Nuremberg is shown enthroned, crowned, holding a sceptre, and resting her arm upon a shield bearing the Nuremberg arms. Above the building, the Imperial double-headed eagle with spread wings and sceptre is displayed prominently, its crown visible at center. The curved legend flanking the eagle reads SOB UMBRA ALARUM, a reference to divine protection. The engraver's mark appears in the lower exergue. |
