Raimund Anton von Strasoldo served as Prince-Bishop of Eichstätt from 1757 until his death in 1781, one of the quieter reigns in a see that had been issuing coinage since the medieval period. The Bishopric's thalers of this era were struck in small quantities for ceremonial and administrative purposes rather than broad circulation — Eichstätt was a minor ecclesiastical principality of the Holy Roman Empire, and its monetary output reflected that scale.
Cahn's reference remains the standard for Eichstätt episcopal coinage, and the Ei#134 attribution places this among the better-documented issues of Strasoldo's episcopate.
