| Obverse description | Central field depicts a detailed view of the Strandhall restaurant building on the beach at Neukuhren (present-day Pionersky), rendered in low relief against a coastal landscape with seabirds in flight. The Prussian eagle coat of arms appears in the upper left of the field. To the right, a vertical cartouche bears the Latin legend NEUKUHREN and the founding date 1254. The Cyrillic arc legend ИСТОРИЯ ВОСТОЧНОЙ ПРУССИИ (History of East Prussia) runs along the upper rim, while ПИОНЕРСКИЙ 1946 appears along the lower rim, marking the town's Soviet renaming. A beaded inner border frames the entire design. |
