| Reverse description | Saint Rupert (Sanctus Rudbertus), patron saint and first bishop of Salzburg, depicted seated three-quarters facing left, vested in episcopal robes and holding a pastoral crosier in one hand and his attribute, the salt barrel, in the other. No secondary figure appears to the right of the throne. A Latin circumscription encircles the composition beginning at the twelve o'clock position, incorporating the date within the legend. The bold, dignified figure of the saint is rendered in the characteristic early Baroque style of Salzburg mint coinage of this period. |
