Obverse description Half-length armored effigy of Elector Moritz of Saxony facing right, holding a sword raised over his right shoulder. The date is divided by the figure on either side. The surrounding legend bears the titles of Moritz in Latin, running along the outer rim of the coin. Three elaborate crested helms are displayed above the shield, each bearing their respective heraldic crests. The surrounding legend continues the titles of Moritz in Latin, terminating with the mint-master's initials SBT. The overall composition reflects the highly detailed heraldic style typical of mid-sixteenth-century Saxon coinage.
