Obverse description Armored bust of Maximilian III facing right, wearing a deep ruffled collar, set within a beaded inner circle. The cross of the Teutonic Order is prominently displayed on his breastplate. The date is divided on either side of the bust, and a small abbreviation 'co' appears in the legend below the effigy. The encircling Latin legend, commencing at 12 o'clock, reads for 'Maximilian, by the Grace of God, Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy and Styria.'

Reverse description Crowned composite arms of the Habsburgs and associated territories, centrally superimposed upon the cross of the Teutonic Order, with decorative foliate ornaments flanking both sides, all contained within a beaded inner circle. The encircling Latin legend, commencing at 1 o'clock, reads for 'And Carniola, Administrator of the Mastership of Prussia, Count of Habsburg and Tyrol.' The heraldic design is rendered in a detailed and finely engraved baroque style characteristic of the Hall mint.
