Obverse description Draped bust of Archduke Maximilian III of Austria facing right, wearing a ruff collar and the chain of the Order of the Golden Fleece, rendered in high relief in the late Renaissance style. The date 1616 is divided across the field, flanking the portrait on either side. A rope-bordered inner circle frames the effigy. The encircling Latin legend reads MAXIMIL D G AR AV DVX BVR STIR CAR, with the mintmaster's mark (CO) appearing at the base of the bust near the inner border.
