Obverse description Central field occupied by the elaborate quartered arms of Bavaria and the Rhenish Palatinate, surmounted by a princely crown, the shield displaying the characteristic Bavarian lozengy pattern alongside the Palatinate lion and additional dynastic quarterings. Two rampant lions serve as heraldic supporters flanking the shield on either side, their manes rendered with fine detail in the hammered style. Below the shield, a small orb and additional heraldic devices are visible in the lower field. The circular Latin legend enclosing the entire design reads MAXIMILIANS. D. G. COM. PAL. RHE. VTRQ. BOIARIÆ. DVX., with the date 1622 incorporated at the top of the legend between the two supporters.
