| Obverse description | Draped bust of Maximilian Frederick, Elector-Archbishop of Cologne, facing left, attired in an elaborate fur-trimmed ecclesiastical mantle with lace cravat, his hair dressed in the powdered wig fashion of the period with curled sides. The engraver's initials P.C.F. appear in the lower exergual area alongside the date 1762. A Latin circular legend surrounds the effigy reading MAXIMILIAN FRIDER. AR. EP. ET ELECT. COL., identifying the subject as Archbishop and Elector of Cologne. |
