Reverse description Full-length standing figure of Saint Rupert, patron saint of Salzburg, depicted holding a salt box in his left hand and a crozier in his right, positioned above the arms of the city of Salzburg in the lower field. A circular Latin legend surrounds the figure, commencing at 12 o'clock and interrupted at the top by a bishop's mitre dividing the inscription. The original host coin bears the date 1655 in the legend. A rectangular countermark reading 16S81, applied in 1681 under Archbishop Max Gandolf von Kuenburg as part of a revalidation exercise, appears prominently on the reverse field.
