Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Archduke Leopold (Leopold V of Austria) with flowing hair and short beard, armored at the shoulders, occupying the central field. The date is split to either side of the bust, with '16' to the left and 'Z1' (representing 81) to the right. A small rectangular countermark bearing the cartouche '16S81', applied by Archbishop Max Gandolf von Kuenburg, is stamped on the shield visible at the lower right of the bust. A continuous Latin legend runs along the inner edge of the toothed border: LEOPOLDVS D G ARCHID AVST DVX BVRG S CÆS M ET RELIQ.
